San in winter. Unlucky trip #2
I planned this visit to San in December, to fish for Danubian salmon (Hucho hucho).
This big predator is more feeding more actively in coldest time of year, so December is the right time to catch it.
We teamed up with Piotr Michna, the guide, but he wasn't guiding on this trip, just fishing.
Unfortunately, the trip started with road incident. Somewhere near Rzeszów, I had a small collision with truck. We waited for police, and lost two hours to fill all papers. It was my fault, as police concluded, and I got in addition 500 PLN ticket for traffic violation. That sucks!
So, beginning of the trip was spoiled. And when we arrived to the river, it was already crowded . Someone caught Hucho. The fish which could be mine. I was s frustrated.
In the meantime, we started fishing with nymphs.
I caught one small brown trout, and one big lost. I almost brought it to hand, but fish slipped out of landing net and released from the hook.
In the meantime, there was a hatch of very small insects. Piotr caught nice grayling on dry fly.
We stayed overnight in private hotel "U Mirka i Dorotki"
There was only fishermen in this hotel at this time.
On the next day, we went to the place called "Eldorado".
It's famous for abundance of big graylings. Also, there's one deep hole with Hucho hucho.
I concentrated solely on Hucho, throwing big streamers in deep water. Piotr and other guys were fishing for graylings with nymphs. One of graylings they caught, was 50 cm(!). Quite an achievement.
My fishing wasn't so good. I got only 2 small trouts in first day, and zero in second.
Something doesn't work between me and San river. A lack of reciprocity.
