Bosnia - grayling eldorado. Day 5

The last day of our fishing trip. In the morning we went to river Sana again. I asked to drop me out at the bridge, where I caught 2 big graylings day ago. I liked this place, it's the most spectacular area on the river Sana.

We started earlier than usual, at 7, and it was very cold and foggy.

I arrived to my favorite pool with fast current in the head of the pool, and big eddie on the side.  I had a high hopes for this place. There should be big fish in it. I fished the fsdt current in the head of the pool, the current seams, the eddie.

I spent about a hour on this pool . Time to move to next section.

Upstream from the big pool, there's very good medium depth run, from knee deep to waist-deep. Should be ideal for graylings. I fished it over few times, with no contact.

Above this run, there's small island, where river separated to two arms: small and big (main current). My attention caught small arm, where fast flow joins the small pool.  I made a few casts to this current, and got a fish! Nice one, unfortunately it fell off the hook shortly. What a pity!

I fished the other side of this current, where it joints the pool. Very fishy place, but there's probably only one fish or two, due to size of the stream.

Going further upstream, I found very big and long hole in the middle of the river.  It became hot, I made a break to change clothes. There's small rest area in the forest with wooden table and benches.

I fished that big pool couple of times, and got nothing.

When I returned to the car, I met two guys, Rafal and Blazej from our group.  They told that they also fished this pool and got 2 BIG graylings from it. 50+cm.  I was jealous. They fished the very upper part, where main current joins the pool, in knee-deep water and fast current.  Guys told me that graylings often avoid deep pools, but prefer shallower and faster water. So I fished wrong water type the whole time, and that's why I got no fish.  Too sad, I learned that lesson a bit late.

Then we drove to lunch, to Aqua restaurant again. After lunch, Alek took 2 of us to his favorite place for dry fly fishing. I still had a hope to catch at least one big grayling on dry fly.

We hiked to the place about 30 min. It was a little bit busy, because there were other fishermen. But they were already leaving.
There was little activity on the surface. Graylings were eating insects, but not very often.  I cast my fly to the banks, near the vegetations, for 2 hours or so. I also saw 5 or 6 graylings in front of me. They seems to be not very interested in my flies. I tried to put it near the fish, no reaction.

My last fishing day ended with total fiasco. Zero fish. One I hooked, but doesn't count.

We returned to the guest house and started to pack things. On next morning it was long way home through few European countries again.

This was my first trip to Balkans. I'm very excited about fishing in such pristine rivers with great nature. I wish i'd participate in more of such trips in the nearest future.
