Spawning grounds of Upper Raba

Image
Raba is number one choice for trout fishermen living in Kraków, because it's nearest river to the city with good population of brown trout, rainbow trout and grayling. I fished it many times with variable success. Fishing can be very good in summer and autumn, but usually slow in early spring, because of cold water. River level was 231 cm in Dobczyce, flow 5,9 m3/s. This is very low level. I feel uncomfortable at low level (and fish probably too), especially on sunny days, when bottom looks like "naked" and fish cannot hide from predators. In such conditions trout concentrate in deepest holes, where it's harder to convince them to bite a fly. First fish I got soon, as I started in 7:00 in the morning. It was biggest brown trout of the day, nearly 40 cm. Fish was in good condition, and made few spectacular jumps, until it came to rest in my net. I got it on grey scud nymph with orange accent., tied on Dohiku HDJ No. 10 Next fish I got only after two hou...

Vision Scout waders testing on Dunajec

Right before that trip, I got new waders Vision Scout, as a replacement for leaky Simms headwaters. I'm not brand fanatic, and even I own quite a lot of Simms gear, I wouldn't say it's best of the best. I love my Simms G3 boots, I wear them only 1 year. They look sexy, meaty, comfortable, like good hiking boots. So, what about Vision Scout waders?  This is relatively new model, and there's not so much reviews about it. There's one from UK fly fishing magazine: https://www.troutandsalmon.com/tackle-blog/vision-scout-waders They are super-breathable, have large front pocked with sealed zipper, small internal pocket, small loops for attaching tools (nippers, forceps, tippet spools).  There are beckets on the waist level to pass belt through (as on every trousers or jeans). The belt sits a little bit low for my taste, but nothing prevents to wear it without beckets. It also have integrated gravel guards, which are the same color and material, as wa...
