Vision Scout waders testing on Dunajec
Right before that trip, I got new waders Vision Scout, as a replacement for leaky Simms headwaters.
I'm not brand fanatic, and even I own quite a lot of Simms gear, I wouldn't say it's best of the best.
I love my Simms G3 boots, I wear them only 1 year. They look sexy, meaty, comfortable, like good hiking boots.
So, what about Vision Scout waders? This is relatively new model, and there's not so much reviews about it.
There's one from UK fly fishing magazine:

They are super-breathable, have large front pocked with sealed zipper, small internal pocket, small loops for attaching tools (nippers, forceps, tippet spools). There are beckets on the waist level to pass belt through (as on every trousers or jeans). The belt sits a little bit low for my taste, but nothing prevents to wear it without beckets.
It also have integrated gravel guards, which are the same color and material, as waders itself.
My size is ML, I found it very comfortable to sit or squat, without stretching of the material.
Let's back to fishing. Conditions were promising. Water level at Krościenko 187 cm, temperature 5,5 C, flow 24-25 m3/s. I started on lower section of OS Dunajec in Gołkowice.
There's section with rapids and deep holes. I used the heaviest sinking line with streamers and wet flies. No success.
The hole below the "island" is particularly good. There's deep and softer water just near the right bank, which looks like perfect holding water for large trout.
It was sunny day, +18 C. Fish did not react to anything. But I noticed hatching big march brown mayflies . A sign of good dry fly fishing.
I went to famous "dry fly" place, called "The Second Wall".
There was a good (but short) march brown hatch. But no fish activity on the surface. Why??? Maybe they were feeding on emergers?
I and another two fishermen were beating the pool with dry fly for 2 hours with short break. No reaction. I don't understand. There's hatch but there's no fish. Where they all gone?
I made a break and got a dinner in Karchma (roadside restaurant) in Krościenko nad Dunajcem.
After meal, I returned to the river. The pool was quiet. All fishermen gone.
I assembled rod for Czech nymphing and went upstream to probe some good hole for nymphing.
Fish weren't biting on nymphs either. What the f...ck?
There was enough "no fish" fishing for the day. I started photographing myself, and made few stupid photos.
It is third trip without fish. Both previous was on bright and very sunny day. I need to change something to break the circle. Maybe start fishing during the rain?
