Bóbr in October Part 2. Spey casting training
In the Friday evening, I arrived to my destination and perfectly accomodated in Tartak.
The hotel located in very beautiful area, right on the bank of the river Bóbr.
It has spacious rooms, common living area, big dining room, and even holders for fly rods inside.
Near the house, there's steep footpath to the river, to the so-called "beach" .
There's a dam on the river, with old power station building, which is a kind of tourist attraction. Many people come here to look at the dam and make photos.
On the Saturday, our spey casting course officially started. Piotr Talma brought some double handed rods, lines, rod holders. First, he told some theoretical introduction and demonstrated roll cast on the grass in front of the hotel. Then, we repeated this exercise.
Later, we descended to the river, and actual training started.
The program was built from simple to more complex excercises: roll cast, switch cast (no direction change), spey casts with change direction: double spey, snap-c, single spey, snake roll.
Some participants were more experienced, so they did their individual program.
Our instructor carefully approached each student, watched his actions, and suggested corrections to errors.
We had a break for lunch in the middle of the day, and then casting continued.
I knew my casting faults, but I don't see myself from the side. Piotr filmed my casting movement with special program on the phone, which converts video to time-lapse series of photos. So it's easy to track phases of the movement in slow motion.
I was physically tired, but it was a good exercise! Most of these student guys (including me) were dreaming to catch salmon on double handed rod. Lessons with instructor are good investment to the future ability to fish in various and challenging conditions.
The training day ended. It was almost 8 hours of casting on the water. We had a great dinner, served by Igor and Gosia. I enjoyed the whole training and organization a lot. I as pet lover, also enjoyed to play with dog, and couple of cats living in the house.
